Skin and Allergies
Skin Infections
Some skin infections and conditions in pets include allergic dermatitis, yeast infection, folliculitis, impetigo, and ringworm.
Chronic Illnesses
A chronic condition is an ongoing injury or illness that can last a lifetime. Some chronic illnesses in cats include kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, and lymphoma. Common chronic illnesses in dogs include allergies, cranial cruciate ligament tear, and arthritis.
Puritis
Pruritus, or itchiness, is common in many types of skin disorders in pets. Itching and scratching are commonly associated with flea allergy dermatitis, seasonal allergies or atopy, food allergies, contact dermatitis, and mites.
Allergies
There are different types of allergies in dogs including skin allergies, food allergies, and environmental allergens and symptoms can range from itching, gastrointestinal problems, hives, swelling, and constant licking.
Organ Failure
Organ failure is life-threatening and the signs can vary. Some symptoms to look out for include lethargy, significant weight loss, pale gums, breath that smells like chemicals, significant decrease in appetite, and vomiting.
GI
Gastrointestinal (GI) disorders and diseases affect a pet’s stomach and intestines, resulting in pain and other problems. Any issue that reduces the digestion or absorption of food can be called a digestive disorder.
